Undergraduate Chapters of Iowa

As Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. quickly approaches her 100th year of service, it is a humbling experience to recognize that this great legacy was started by Five young Undergraduate women at Howard University. The Undergraduate sector of our amazing organization is a vital and intricate part of membership that is very special.  The State of Iowa has the privilege of being the home to four undergraduate chapters located at the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, Coe College and the University of Dubuque.

Upsilon Nu | Iowa State University

Zeta Phi Beta #5

The Upsilon Nu Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered March 19, 1988. With the assistance of alumnae sisters, eight young women were able to create this illustrious chapter that has stood the test of time by proudly serving the Iowa State and Ames communities for 30 years. In recent years the Upsilon Nu Chapter has received council awards for Friendship, Civic Engagement, Outstanding Service Member of the Year, and also received a grant from the Iowa State Alumni Association to aid in alumnae outreach. Notable chapter events include Blue Goes Purple for Preemies, where sisters collaborated with our brothers of Phi Beta Sigma to raise money to donate towards the March of Dimes, and Sex in the Dark. During Sex in the Dark Upsilon Nu partnered with campus health professionals to promote healthy sexual behaviors and answer anonymous student questions. When Upsilon Nu sisters are not working in the name of Zeta, they can be found studying abroad leading other campus organizations such as; the National Pan-Hellenic Council, NAACP, and student run magazine “Sir.”
